Fade your tattoo but carefully!

By Leland Poliks

The word "tattoo" comes from the Tahitian word tattau; meaning, to mark. It has been around for ages. Tattoos have been found on Ice Age remains and Egyptian mummies. More than 20 million Americans have one or more tattoos.

Just as the demand for getting tattoos has increased, so has the demand for having the tattoos removed or faded. A survey by the American Society of Dermatological Surgery found that around 50 percent of the people who get tattoos eventually regret having them. And look for ways either to fade their tattoos or have them removed altogether.

Tattoos were meant to be permanent, so removing or fading them was difficult until now. However, with the recent advances in technology, laser therapy has become the preferred method for removal of tattoos.

The Q-switched ruby laser is considered the first preference for most of the tattoos, except for red ink, which is best treated with an Nd: YAG laser. Some people prefer laser treatment for tattoo fading rather than complete removal, as fading tattoos is less painful and less expensive.

Procedure of laser tattoo removal

Laser works by emitting short but intense pulses of light that pass through the epidermis and get absorbed by the tattoo pigment. The laser energy breaks the ink pigment into tiny particles which are then easily removed by the body's immune system a few weeks or months after the laser treatment.

The amount of time and the number of laser treatments require to remove the tattoo depends on several factors such as:

* The color of the ink is a big factor in determining how many laser treatments you require. Black and blue colored tattoos get removed easily whereas green and yellow pigments are the hard to remove.
* Professional tattoos are harder to remove as compared to street tattoos as professional tattoo makers use better quality ink and equipment.
* It is tougher to remove a new tattoo rather an older one as the pigment in the new tattoo is likely to be denser
* Size of the tattoo
* How deep the ink is injected
* Location of the tattoo and
* The individual's ability to heal

If you're going to get your tattoo removed or faded through laser procedures, remember to do your research and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Question you must have answers to before you go in for the treatment:

Cost of the Treatment

Prices for laser removal depend upon the size of the tattoo, type of inks used etc. The bigger the area; the higher the charge. Fix up an appointment with the removal practitioner or the dermatologist and get the estimate.

Pain Involved

Fortunately laser removal or fading is relatively painless procedure. But still the amount of pain felt will depend on the type of tattoo, the level of treatment and your own tolerance level. Some people feel more pain than others. The truth is that you will only know how painful it is until you try it.

Chances of Side-effects

Normally the area blisters after the treatment. The skin returns to normal within 4 to 6 weeks. The possibilities of side-effects are few but it may include hyper pigmentation, hypo pigmentation, infection or a little chance of permanent scarring. Get all your doubts cleared before going for the treatment.

Number of Treatments

If you think that one fine day you would go in to the clinic, and walk out the very same day tattoo free, then you are dreaming in vain. It takes a number of sittings for tattoo fading or removal. Generally the number of treatments depends upon the depth, color and the composition of the ink.

Relation between Tattoo Removal and Breastfeeding Mothers

There is no evidence suggesting that tattoo fading or cover up tattoo affects breastfeeding in any way. The body filters the ink particles via the white blood cells and mothers are unlikely to face problems if they follow the recommended aftercare procedures. But if there are concerns about a tattoo, then the mother should consult the dermatologist or her physician for proper advice.

The Parenting Task Of Helping Your Child Rise Up To New Challenges

By Lebronski Kuwada Xavier

All of us have to grow up, which means we all must experience the dreadful and stressful teenage years. Physical changes occur during this time which can be stressful for both parents and children. Your kids will simply have to experience these changes, and you need to be there with them as they go through it. As your children go through their teen years, they will also have positive and rewarding times. In fact, most adults will look back at their memories as teenagers and realize what a fantastic time they actually had. On the flip side, many people despise these years because they were tormented by other people.

Peer pressure is a given for all children throughout their school years. This can be a very tense time for teenagers in particular as the peer pressure becomes more extreme. Most kids will not tell their parents what is going on so they are left in the dark if it is happening. To help out your teenager, you need to express your willingness to support them no matter what. If you have a robust connection with your kids, and they have a strong will, things will end up okay. Still, though, we are aware of exceptions to just about all rules regarding teens. So the situation can be very difficult, sometimes. You can even be very direct and simply ask your child if they are experiencing pressure from other children.

The personality of each of your children has a lot to do with the types of subjects that they will be more or less interested in. Your kids internal molecular structure plays a large role in whether or not they are academically oriented or choose a different direction. All kids are different; some will enjoy school very much and others will not handle school well at all. Once you understand a little bit more about your children and how their personalities are, you can be there to help them along the way. Obviously each child needs to at least understand the value of successfully completing high school. And if they are having problems, always let them know that they can get tutoring help along the way.

Consistency in discipline and enforcing rules should be on the top of most parenting lists, but quite often the couple can't seem to agree. In two parent households quite often one parent has a lot more resolve than the other. The parent who gives in will be singled out by the children, who can be masters at manipulation at home. In short, both parents need to be on the same page at all times when it comes to rules and discipline. If the rules were set where both parents agreed and the children knew what would happen if they disobeyed, there would be no reason to ever give-in.

A key to being a great parent is to be aware of your child, how they are feeling, and what they're struggling with; only by doing this can you successfully help them in a positive way. The best way to make sure everything goes smoothly is to be a positive role model and have great communication.

Spending time together might help virtually any family. A great way to get this done would be to see a program or a motion picture with each other which shows some sort of moral concept. A great example is Disney's Lion King. This is a great show that lots of families see together.

Easy Ways To Practice The Piano

By Andy Penbram

To learn piano or keyboards can be a little disheartening when you concentrate on your playing for days on end to find that you do not appear to be getting anywhere. The main reason the majority students give up the piano, particularly in youngsters is a highly regarded lack of advancement. Here are a few tips to help you with your own personal practice sessions which ought to help you to progress faster.

Organize your practice time - Build a little routine for your practice periods. The main points of the routine will be very different from person to person dependent on the of music they are learning to play.

The very first thing to do when you sit down to practice is to warm up. A great way to do this is by practicing your scales for some time, this will loosen your fingers and in the long term will help you to learn pieces in various keys.

As soon as you've finished the warm-up you can then go on to working on your pieces. You should know after the initial few times of practicing a new piece where the tricky sections are. Begin with these sections right before you attempt to play the entire piece. Play the section with separate hands. Keep swapping hands though in order not to let the other hand get cold. Now play the tricky passage with both hands together.

You are now able to try the whole piece from start to finish with a confidence that you will be more comfortable when it comes to the tough parts.

Always utilise a metronome when you play your scales and arpeggios and use it for your pieces too if they permit it. Set the metronome to a reduced speed than is needed initially which will help you to play the piece easily. Over the space of a couple of days you can slowly start to increment the rate of the metronome until you are playing it at speed. You could even benefit from playing the piece more speedily than it should be just to get your fingers really working and used to the piece.

You've got to learn how to relax while you are playing. Relax your fingers, your back and in reality your entire posture. If you are tense while you play then you'll find it far more difficult to control your fingers and for your playing to flow. This is a little like studying how to ride a bike or drive a vehicle. To start with there are so many things to remember and coordinate but at some specific point it all of a sudden clicks and it all slots into place.

Daily practice on its own isn't really enough to learn the piano correctly but a steady and structured practice routine will certainly give you an advantage.
