Classic Corporate Apparel Made Simple

By Adriana Noton

Part of being business savvy is knowing how to dress, but with so many different options available it can be difficult to know which options to choose from; it does not help that professional dress is often broken down into subcategories such as general, dressy, and casual. Erring on the side of caution and opting for classic pieces, putting together smart corporate apparel ensembles need not be a complicated process for men or women.

You do not need to be fashion conscious to dress your business best. Whether you are a clotheshorse or never know which color to wear with what, you can always be dressed smartly and simply. Classics are classics for a reason, in the office worry about putting your business savvy forward, after work is the time to put your personality forward.

Whether an individual is preparing for their first job within the business world, or has received a promotion which has taken them to the next level, looking the part can be key in both getting ahead and staying ahead.

Men can rely on such basics as crisp white shirts, three and two piece suits, polished shoes, and elegant ties; pinstripe suits and shirts are always a classy choice, and when desired playful ties and cuff links can a touch of personality whilst creating an heir that is professional over all. Black, gray, navy, and brown are all traditional colors, whilst cotton, linen, and tweed are traditional fabrics.

Ladies can enjoy the same simplicity. The same colors, fabrics, and cuts--piece wise-- will apply, although in the case of women there is the option of choosing a silk blouse or scarf over a silk tie. In addition to wearing trousers, women also can wear skirts; keeping the hem just below or at the knee is advisable, younger generations of professionals are strongly advised not to go significantly above the knee--though just above is often acceptable. Pumps or flats are a good choice to pull an outfit together whilst maintaining some comfort throughout the day, scarves, handbags, and jewelry can be used to add a touch of whimsy.

There are some times when it is simply smarter to err on the side of caution and risk being overdressed as opposed to under, this is especially in terms of corporate gifts. Not everyone deems suits to be a necessity these days, so some people choose to combine blazers and slacks with shirts--ladies of course may add skirts to this. This look can often work, but for those who do not have the knowledge or confidence to wear it, suits lend a foolproof ability to look appropriate for almost any occasion.

When working in the realm of business it is never too early nor too late to become more conscious of the presence a person is putting forth. With a few basic articles of clothing, it is possible to significantly enhance an individual's professional appearance.

Custom made tailored items are always desirable, but are not necessary in the beginning. When it becomes financially prudent to invest in a higher quality of suits, such changes can easy be made; in the beginning, moderately priced, yet smart looking pieces will more than suffice. By running the risk of looking overly professional and choosing simple yet classic clothing, corporate apparel is a doubly smart decision.
